Introducing the Magcone-250: Combining CPT with High-Resolution Magnetic Detection

Geomil Equipment is excited to introduce the Magcone-250, an innovative new solution that combines Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) with high-resolution magnetic sensing in a single investigation. Developed around advanced magnetometer technology from renowned German manufacturer Sensys, the Magcone-250 opens up new possibilities for detecting buried ferrous objects while simultaneously collecting detailed CPT data.

The system is designed for applications including UXO screening, detection of metallic obstructions, underground infrastructure investigations, pipeline and cable route surveys, dredging and civil engineering projects. Its dual-array of Fluxgate® magnetometers enables gradient measurements, delivering high spatial resolution and reduced noise compared with conventional single-sensor magnetic surveys. This makes the system particularly valuable on complex or industrial sites where electromagnetic interference and numerous ferrous objects can make detection challenging.

During a CPT test, the Magcone records magnetic measurements in X, Y and Z directions alongside the complete set of CPT parameters. Using the GME-800 and integrated CPTest-6 software, operators can view both datasets in real time as graphical and numerical outputs against depth.
