In order to perform Cone Penetration Tests (CPT) in the most reliable and economical way, only the best equipment available will ensure for success.

Not without pride GeoMil Equipment can claim to be the world market leader in designing and manufacturing the very best fully ballasted CPT cabin crawlers up to 200kN pushing capacity.

Due to the superb constructional solutions, employment of OEM components of highest quality and our first class finishing the GeoMil cabin crawlers form an excellent investment in a sustainable and successful performance, lasting for decades.

The GeoMil cabin crawlers, based on Caterpillar 315 or 320 undercarriages of the latest design, provide extremely low ground pressures and guarantee for perfect terrain capabilities. Depending on the total crawler weigth and chosen track dimension the ground pressure may be 3.8 KPa or less, unreached by any purely wheel or combined wheel/track propelled CPT unit.

The long designing experience and close co-operation with the GeoMil clients for performance improvements resulted in a standardised basic design over the years. Still special wishes or demands e.g. for the dimensions, total load, interior design and accessories are considered and make every unit unique.

By choosing for a fully ballasted CPT cabin crawler the decision is made for high and profitable production. With a daily production rate of 250 sounding meters and more there is no better choice for large investigation terrains like road construction sites, land reclamation areas or industrial and residential estates.

Due to the quick and easy mobilisation of a CPT cabin crawler as well as the rapid "ready to start" preparation without time consuming anchoring, even small investigation sites with only a handful of soundings become profitable.

Features that make the GeoMil CPT cabin crawlers superior:

Caterpillar OEM components
The undercarriage as well as the powerpack consist of original CAT 315 CL or CAT 320 CL, the size depending on the final total weight of the crawler.
By choosing for Caterpillar components, GeoMil provides utmost reliability and independant worldwide service.

Flat bed chassis
The crawler chassis forms a self-supporting “box”-construction, providing a flat bottom free of any hoses, pipes or struts. As a result of this design, the crawler will never sink or dig itself into any soft or swampy ground but will float. Even when the belts would loose traction, the crawler can be towed away at minimum resistance.
The chassis box houses all additional steel ballast, hydraulic pipes and the sounding beam for bearing the hydraulic rams, located in the center of gravity. A covering steel plate with integrated inspection hatches provides a flat inner floor.

Levelling jacks
One can chose between 3 (standard) or 4 (option) hydraulic jacks for horizontal levelling while lifting the crawler off the ground.
Most users decide for 3 levelling jacks of short length. However, medium long jacks as well as long jacks for outriggar constructions are also available.

Aluminum "Snap-lock" cabin
The CPT crawler comes with a single cabin made of aluminum snap-lock profiles. The noise protected engine compartment, housing also all hydrauilc installations, is seperated from the working cabin by means of a three-fold removable wall. The engine room provides a roof hatch, two side hatches and one front hatch. In total the engine room is accessable from 5 sides for easy service and maintanance.
The working cabin comes with 4 sliding windows and one access door. In front of the drive control pannel two additional windows allow for the visibility while driving.
The interior is finished with a (6 mm) white plywood water-resistant cladding. The steel floor provides a 9 mm “Wisadeck” antislip and shock-proof covering.
A warning light and a spot light at the rear roof edge are standard.
The crawler cabin will be spray-painted in one RAL-colour according to the clients wish. The substructure will be provided with a solid black protective coating.

200kN penetrometer pusher
All crawlers are equipped with the latest design 200 kN penetrometer. This design provides full protection from physical damages (e.g. while handling tubes) by two covering cylinders, eliminating the risk of hydraulic leakage. In addition, the new design offers increased working space between the two cylinders, easing operation.
A hydraulic catching clamp is integrated in the lower CPT beam and allows for holding the rod string while breaking the threads.

19" control rack
In order to control all hydraulic penetrometer and levelling functions as well as the data acquisition system and recording computer during CPT soundings in a most ergonomic way, all respective components are installed in the 19" rack, positioned in arm distance from the penetrometer pusher.
The 19" rack houses the modern programmable logic control (PLC), GME 500 data acquisition unit, industrial PC with monitor and keyboard, power inverter and further electronic installations.
A well designed control panel provides the necessary function switches, control buttons, gauges and joysticks for a convinient performance of CPT's.

Drive-stand and remote control
The driving of the cabin crawler is controlled by a separate Scanreco™ control board.
Both, a fixed drive-stand in front of the panorama window at the left front corner as well as a cable or wireless remote control are possible. While the drive stand allows for comfortable driving when moving from one sounding point to the next, the remote control is mandatory for safe manoeuvring while loading or unloading the crawler via ramps from the transport vehicle. It also assists in hazardous terrain conditions like slopes. On request the remote control can be used for levelling and other control functions as well.
While GeoMil's competitors just started to offer a wirless remote control, its common practice for GeoMil since years!
