CPTest© released
With CPTest© GeoMil provides a versatile and easy to use acquisition software for mechanical as well as electrical Cone Penetration Tests (CPT). The program has been designed as 32 bit application suitable for Microsoft Windows (95 and higher) operation systems. CPTest© processes and presents CPT data gained with GeoMil's GME 500 series of data acquisition systems, both the 19" industrial built-in and portable IP65 version.
The advanced and flexible features of CPTest© allow for professional and efficient test performance. Individual monitoring demands are taken into account by flexible viewing options the user can select. All data are presented in real-time in both graphical and numerical format. At any time the vertical and horizontal scaling can be adjusted. Moreover, all channels can be switched on or off individually. In playback mode, multiple tests can be opened and charts with all measured data are available in a 10 mm interval.

New cable design provides utmost flexibility
In late 2003 GeoMil will introduce its new cable design for the full range of all GeoMil cones, providing a high grade of flexibility for the user. In short, the advantages of the new design can be listed as follows: Interested? In that case GeoMil will provide you with a proposal - both timing and pricing - for an upgrade of your current cones and cables to the new design.

Newly designed 50kN stand alone pusher
The newly designed 50kN stand alone penetrometer forms the consequently improved "low budget" version of a light and portable pushing unit. Modified design for 15 cm2 Subtraction Cone
![]() |
Existing S15 cones have only 200cm2 surface area for the friction sleeve and the cylincrical length behind the friction sleeve is too short. GeoMil modified the friction sleeve to 225cm2 and due to a cylindrical end piece the transition zone until the tapered cross-over starts is extended. Go to subtraction cones or click the image to the left to learn more about the benefit for a modification which can be realised for all existing S15 cones at moderate costs.

New GME 200kN pusher | ||||
![]() |
Easy operation, long lasting performance and future oriented design are major features of high quality products. GeoMil designed a new type of high capacity static push tower which provides huge working space between the pushing cylinders thus allowing to feed the sounding tubes by a robot or to mount various clamping systems and also different measuring heads, also electrical vane tester. The concept of the pusher is that the cylinders are mounted in the correct way, fixed to the sounding beam, while the pistons are moving. The pistons are protected from dust and physical damages (e.g. while adding tubes) by two coating cylinders in which high quality bearings guarantee for smooth and stable guidance. Thus an extremely long lasting and cost effective performance is guaranteed. The newly designed push/pull bridge allows to apply all GME push, pull and measuring devices. The new pusher provides 200kN pushing capacity and 260kN pulling force and can be mounted on all GME CPT units.

New Pulling Clamp 260 kN |
||||
![]() |
When performing mechanical CPT tests, the sounding tubes are pushed into the soil by means of a mechanical or electrical measuring head. At the end of each test the tubes are pulled up by means of either a pulling unit (pulling bowl with pulling piece) or a ball clamp. The disadvantage of such pulling units is the fact that working with it is quite laborious. Using a ball clamp might be quicker, but it jams quite rapidly (and does not come loose unless brutal force is applied) and causes sever damage to the tubes. For this reason GeoMil has designed a complete new pulling clamp. The pulling clamp has a pulling capacity of 260 kN and fits into the push/pull yoke of a 200 kN as well as of a 100 kN penetrometer pusher. The removable clamping blocks are provided with tempered gripping plates. These gripping plates can, if worn, easily be replaced. The force, applied on the tubes by the clamp, is distributed uniformly by the clamping blocks over the gripping area. This guarantees excellent seizing and prevents damaging or deformation of the sounding tube. After a 3 month testing period in the field, carried out by Geomechanica B.V., the new pulling clamp has been approved as an extremly reliable, efficient and thus valuable tool. GeoMil can now offer the new pulling clamp 260 kN to the international CPT market at an attractive price.

Speedlock, the smart thread solution
![]() |
GeoMil Equipment successfully introduced a new screw thread for sounding tubes, named Speedlock. The properties of the Speedlock thread mean an enormous improvement compared to the classic screw threads, both as far as strength and speed goes. The Speedlock thread is a dual lead screw thread. Only 2½ turns are required to screw one tube to another. Obviously, this advantage applies 2 times: unscrewing a tube requires also only 2½ turn. Moreover, by its design the thread is far less susceptible to dirt. In short, working with Speedlock tubes is faster and less straining. This is much appreciated by people who screw and unscrew sounding tubes several times per day. At recent tests it has been determined, that the Speedlock thread is approx. 20% stronger than conventional screw threads. It speaks for itself, that this reduces the risk of failure at heavy loads dramatically. Just like for any other type of tube, a full range of accessories is available for Speedlock tubes, like friction reducers, adapters and pulling pieces. Tubes are available in lengths of 1000, 500 and 300 mm. GeoMil checks every sounding tube 5 (!) times during the production. This guarantees a constant quality and conformity with the most stringent standards regarding dimensions and straightness (e.g. the NEN-5140).
